ELA - We are finishing our graphic novel, Black Panther, A Nation Under Our Feet, Book Two by Ta-Nehisi Coates. We will finish by looking at what characters show us about theme. We will also begin our next text, a memoir - Night by Elie Wiesel. It chronicles his life during the Holocaust. We will be working on Wordly Wise Lesson 9 this week with the exam on Thursday.
Writing - History Fair Projects are on deck and will be due 2/9/22. Students will be working on creating projects (exhibit board, websites or documentaries) based on this research. We have reviewed all project types, exhibit boards went home with students today, and we are moving forward. Students should be working on these projects in class and at home to ensure they are completed by the deadline.
Civics - We are pausing Civics Unit 2 in preparation for History Fair. The Coonley Virtual History Fair is scheduled for the week of 2/14/22 with student judges from Amundsen and Lakeview AP History Classes lending their expertise. There is another great research opportunity provided by Chicago History Day Staff. Students can sign-up for individual work sessions with their staff. Information was emailed to all parents.
