ELA
This week students will be completing Elie Wiesel's memoir, Night. This is an incredible first hand account of the holocaust and the students have been engaged in 15 year old Elie's story.
Writing
We began a poetry unit, exploring six different forms of poetry. Students are happy for a respite from our Argumentative writing with History Fair and we have many aspiring poets. Every Friday, we are enjoying Poetry where students are sharing poems or pieces of their poems with classmates. We will explore ugly poems, ekphrasis (poetry about art), non-sense poems, sonnets, sestinas and students will be able to write in a form of their choice.
Civics
Room 316 students have been completing a mini-inquiry unit on non-for-profits within our community and how they use their power to promote the common good. Students will finish up their visual timeline two-part final assessment for the course. We will dip our toe into the Jon Burge curriculum before making the switch to 5 weeks of Science on March 8th.
Change in Enrichments - As of March 8th, students will complete their 5 weeks of Spanish and move to PE with Mr. Hamlin.
