ELA - This week will be complete our study of "What it means to be a hero?" Students will be writing a literary essay that addresses "What it means to be a hero?" through a variety of text sources including lyrics, poetry, and nonfiction articles. Room 311 will begin its look into the Science Fiction genre. Room 316 will begin a look at memoir through "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn".
Writing - Students will explore Chicago's Lorraine Hansberry's memoir. Students will begin drafting a personal memoir using Hansberry's as a model.
Civics - This week, we will look at identity. In this unit, students will explore some Chicago youth activists and determine categories for what things do they share in common and where they differ. Students will explore their own identities and how our identities shape how/when we choose to act.
