ELA - Students premiered their I-Movie suspense trailers highlighting the elements of suspense within their short stories. We will begin our science fiction unit with a choice of two texts (Across the Universe by Beth Revis or Nyxia by Scott Reintgen). Students will be reading and annotating using Note & Notice techniques as they explore the science fiction protagonist (anti-hero) and the elements of science fiction.
Writing - We will begin finding subjects for our History Fair argument essays connecting to this year's theme: Debate & Diplomacy. Students will complete a graphic organizer to assist them in developing an historical argument in preparation for writing their papers.
Civics - Students enjoyed a virtual field trip with the Smithsonian Institute on Native American Stories. The virtual field trip gave insights into Zuni maps, photography that looks at what Quantum Blood means, and finally the effects of stereotypes and culture on an artist. We finished up Unit 1 looking at rights and responsibilities and will complete Visual Timelines next week.
