The GUM exam for Unit 2 is on Friday, so the students should carve out some time during Advisory and afterschool to look over the last 24 lessons. That said, no one should fret because we will review for it on Thursday, the day before the test.
In writing, we will continue working through Checkology. It seems like everyone is enjoying the program while learning about perspectives, biases, opinions and all of the other elements of journalism. We will begin working toward writing our own news article which may be published in the April issue of the Coonley Chronicle.
In Social Studies, we will continue our study of the Progressive Era as well as working toward completing our History Fair Projects. Every student has met with Mrs. Meegan to review their layout and discussed additions/changes to what they have to date. Exhibit boards and websites all hope to tell the story of breaking barriers with their topic in a visual way supported by images and primary sources. Students will receive the new Upfront issue on Gaming. They will use a template focused on power, perspective, and connections to explore bias within an article. We will have our Socratic Seminars for the issue on Thursday/Friday.
Enjoy your day off.
