ELA
This week students will be reading Lorraine Hansberry's Pulitzer Prize winning play, A Raisin in the Sun. The play focuses on housing in Chicago and speaks to Hansberry's experience growing up on Chicago's Southside. We will participate in virtual tours of the Illinois Holocaust Museum throughout the week as culmination of our study of Elie Weisel's memoir, Night.
Writing
Every Friday, we are enjoying Poetry Cafe where students are sharing poems or pieces of their poems with classmates. We will explore sonnets poems in Room 311 and sestina in Room 316.
Civics
Room 311 students will be completing a mini-inquiry unit on non-for-profits within our neighborhoods and how they use their power to promote the common good. Students will be completing the Civics Course Final Assessments this week.
