ELA
This week, students will begin a Young Adult Book Club novel exploration. Students had a choice between texts and will be working in small groups to read and analyze. The focus of the texts is identity and we will explore the following essential questions: How does our identity impact our choices and how people view us? What does justice/forgiveness look like for those who have harmed us? For Understanding the Invisible Art of Comics additional focus on: Why does POV matter and how is this present in graphic novels through text and images?

Students will continue to complete their individualized Quill Grammar Activities as well as the NewsLiteracy Projects Checkology modules which focus on the rights and responsibilities of the press as a watchdog for democracy. They will test their abilities to question the media they consume and learn tips/tricks to use and consume it responsibly. Students will begin writing news articles on a topic of their choice using a funnel model.
