SAVE THE DATE: 8th Grade Virtual Curriculum Night will take place on 10/4/21 @6:00 p.m. We look forward to sharing our curriculum and to present our work as an 8th grade team.
10/13/21 - Picture Retakes
ELA - Students explored character types (round/flat, dynamic/static, foil/stock/confidante) in Twelfth Night and we have almost completed Act 2. Next week we will continue to analyze key literary device vocabulary, story structure, and character types within Twelfth Night looking for examples in the text as we dive into Act 3. We are excited to be reading/performing this classic work.
Writing - Students are finishing up their final revisions and edits to our memoir poems, due early next week. We have some great memoir texts and/or photos to help provide inspiration and focus on showing/not telling the important stories of our lives. Students should have completed Gum Unit 7 Lesson 73-81 and we will be finishing up the unit in two weeks.
Civics - Students completed a visual timeline of their learning as the final assessment for Civics Launch 0. We enjoyed our new Friday News Day where we enjoyed presentations from students who signed up in advance on a range of topics from Haitian Refugees and legislation that impacts their hopes of finding homes in the US, The Bears, and how Covid-19 has impacted students experiences with education. All students will present prior to 10/29/21.
Have a wonderful weekend. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns to [email protected].
