Academics
ELA - Students turned in their Twelfth Night final projects, and we were impressed by their creative and artistic interpretations of the play. Students took the Twelfth Night final exam on Wednesday. On Friday, students took the Wordly Wise exam for Lesson 4. We started our new unit on Suspense and Thrillers. Next week instead of GUM, we will spend time narrowing down multiple choice answers (focusing on incorrect, vague, right and best answer choices) for the upcoming high school application exam as well as for any assessments.
Writing - Students completed their Lorraine Hansberry-inspired memoirs. Our next writing unit focuses on writing high school entrance essays. In this unit, students will learn strategies for writing about the unique qualities they possess that make them special.
Civics - Students continue to work their way through Civics Launch 1. Students researched and delivered group presentations on how voting rights have changed since 2000. We took a virtual field trip to the Illinois Holocaust Museum where we attended the “Rise Up: Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement” Exhibit. We learned about the American LGBTQ populations’ struggle for equal rights and representation under the law over the last 50 years.
